Tips for making cold work moulds

● Select the correct and high quality mould steel and heat treatment according to the different types of cold work steel and the characteristics of the material to be processed.

● Enhance the finish of the cold work punch and concave die machining surface as much as possible to improve the life of the die.

● Add suitable lubricants.

● Regularly grind the cutting edges. When grinding, pay attention to selecting the proper grinding wheel, the amount of feed, and use enough coolant to avoid overheating and cracking of the grinding.

● WEDM should be processed by slow walking wire, and stress relief tempering and grinding should be carried out after machining to remove the metamorphic layer of WEDM.

● For precision moulds with dimensional stability line requirements, the relevant data should be provided to the heat treaters.
