What are the influencing factors in mould making

The machining and heat treatment of high alloy tool steels is usually more difficult than that of low alloy tool steels, and therefore the cost of mould making is higher. However, the machinability of ASP-23 powdered HSS is better than that of conventional high alloy tool steels, and the dimensional stability of the heat treatment is better and more predictable. Due to its high hardness, good toughness and high temperature tempering properties, ASP-23 is particularly suitable for surface treatment and is very easy to machine.

The following are the main aspects that affect the advantages and disadvantages of mould manufacturing.

● Mechanical processability

● Heat treatment

● Grinding

● Heat treatment dimensional stability

● Surface treatment
